[ QUOTE ]
so for those of us without tv, wtf happened? [/ QUOTE ] Monty gacked badly. Furyk wet himself Phil reverted, brain farted, and pissed away at LEAST a playoff if not an outright win. Some guy named Ogilvy sacked up on the last two holes and survived while the others collasped around him. |

I applaud Phil's decision making on the 18th [/ QUOTE ] NH gimmick account. Excellent. I think Johnny's butchering of Phil is so justified, it's great. |

[ QUOTE ] That was kind of depressing, I never like seeing someone win because of someone elses mistakes. [/ QUOTE ] That is the majority of golf tournaments, especially the Opens [/ QUOTE ] I wouldn't say the majority. Opens...Ok but the test of golf at a US Open isn't like any other. |

Going into 18th hole:
Monty: +4 Ogilvie: +5 Mickelson: +4 Monty and Mickelson both double bogie. Un. Real. |

Re: *** Official 2006 U.S.Open Thread ***
I think everyone's being a little too results oriented.
This course is really tough. The fairways are rather narrow. Maybe Phil decided that if he mishit, he would rather be 300something yards closer than 250? On his approach shot, maybe he knew it was a really hard green, so if he didnt go for the green, he would have had a very hard chance at getting bogey. |

If I think back on the PGA this year, most of the tournaments either involved someone melting down or complete blowout.

Re: *** Official 2006 U.S.Open Thread ***
He needed par to win, bogey to tie. Every decision he made should have been to optimize his chance for par with bogey in a worst case scenario.
