Without reads, check. Assume he won't call w/ a hand worse than yours. If he often folds to river bets than bet. He might have been chasing a draw.

He'll never fold a better hand and the only feasable draw just got there. I don't know how betting could be correct.

I think you have to check these behind unless you really have a read that he'll call with a worse hand. Noone is ever folding a pair here.
