Re: NL100: 1 card set from BB
I like raising the turn opposed to the river, cause if a player is on a draw, he'll likely call a raise on the turn, if the river comes and he missed his draw he wont be calling any raises, and if he's made his draw and you raise the river, you're toasted...

Re: NL100: 1 card set from BB
The problem I had at the river is that I felt I was chopping a lot of the time. I thought I was ahead almost never.
Villain showed KK and all I could do was laugh. |

Re: NL100: 1 card set from BB
OP played it well. don't 3bet the turn just because the guy is a donk. he has <trips here almost never, and our kicker sucks.

Re: NL100: 1 card set from BB
This looks like a trappy KK to me, or a K7, or a better kicker here. Riverbet would hard for me to call. Unless he's demonstrated extreme forms of mental retardation, of course.
But then that is a decent river for you, means he needs an ace to win the pot and prevent a chop if he doesn't have a boat, so calling can be good. |

[ QUOTE ] Reraise the river, I think he has Kx. If he folds, at least you got into his head. If he pushes, call. [/ QUOTE ] This is horrible adviced IMO. Raising folds out all hands you beat and pot committs you to any push by villain (if villain pushes we are quite unlikely to be ahead IMO, barring an idiot with QK.) [/ QUOTE ] On second thought, you're right. This is where I lose too much money. Crap kicker. |

The problem I had at the river is that I felt I was chopping a lot of the time. I thought I was ahead almost never. Villain showed KK and all I could do was laugh. [/ QUOTE ] In that case i fold on the flop... oh wait no!!! you still have one out!!! I check the flop then fold the turn... LOL, joking, its one of those hands you're doomed to lose money with. You got into the flop in such a way its hard to put someone on KK without a little more than 25 hands worth of knowledge... I think for the opponent having KK you played it well, but i still would have liked a reraise on the turn, i think from there I,personally, would be able to determine if im good or not, the problem with just calling the turn there, is now you're faced with a river bet and not really a whole lot more info.. But this is situational, i suppose idealy you reraise the turn, dude pushes all in, you fold... But it could turn into, you reraise the turn, he just calls, leaving you even more pot committed to calling a larger river bet... Looking back at the hand (assuming i read it correctly) and Hind site being 20/20... I'd look at my image, do they think im stealing alot of pots, or do they think im only value betting hands... (then again this is only 25 hands with dude, but he may have been watching for awhile) If i got a valuebet/tight aggressive image, im probably going to lay this hand down from the miniraise on the turn... Simply because there was no preflop raising, and Im not one to lose all my money in an unraised pot... (about the only thing from doyle that ever stuck) and its played more sneaky/value/trappy then Thiefy, so im thinking there he could have KK QQ and limped in, or Any 7 that beats mine, or it may chop, but im not big on making huge investments to chop a pot either... This is all hindsite though, in the heat of the moment, i could only hope to lose as little as you did with that hand and not my entire stack... |
