he also knows (I think at least) that i'm good enough to value bet the turn and river with AK so there's no reason for him to do anything but check/call with a hand like 66-TT

EDIT: actually, if he's good enough to not calldown with AQ or worse thats not really true

MP has a 21 PFR. You don't think his range is wide enough that you're ahead as often as not? Granted, the PFR was a 3-bet, but still. We lose to AA/KK/TT. We beat 88/99/JJ, maybe AK?

[/ QUOTE ]

But is a thinking player with 88/99/JJ donking this flop? I think it's much more likely he has AA/KK.

you coldcapped. if hes donking 88-99 it should be for information with the intention of folding to a raise. a good player shouldnt be bet/calling 88-99 down on this board. there are also more combos or AA/KK then JJ and AA/KK is more likely than JJ with his flop lead i think.

i feel like i'm not a 2:1 favorite when he donks into me on the flop and JJ or worse isn't 3betting. He also might call and checkraise the turn so i really need to be more than a 2:1 fav

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't know. I does show a certain inherent amount of strength to bet out of position right into your cap. On the other hand, with trips on the board, people tend to treat any pocket pair like it's the nuts (and sometimes also AK).

It's also somewhat important how fast he thinks you play. If the UTG player is LAG (sounds like he isn't since he folded preflop) he may not give your capping range as much credit.

this guy is a solid 30/60 regular. you think he thinks any pocket pair is the nuts on this board?

Give me a break. Since when did 30/60 players start becoming terribly prudent with their aggression?

because a good player shouldnt be bet/calling down 99 facing a coldcap from another good player imo and he shouldnt be playing AK this way either

Not everyone plays as well as you think you do.
