My first trip to Las Vegas

Not sure if this belongs here but this is the forum I read the most so I thought I would share my experience with you. I am not an English Major or a Writer so please forgive the spelling and Grammar error's and I am sure there will be plenty.

So I actually won a all expense paid weekend to Las Vegas Via Full contact Poker. It was called Weekend With Daniel Negreanu Hockey Edition. 8 of us were set up to hang out with Daniel Negreanu all day Saturday and Sunday. So my wife and I headed out two days early since we have never been to Vegas.

Thurday we got in kind of late and being from the East Coast it was pretty last for us but the lights of Vegas just wake you right up so we checked into the Hotel and went to find something to eat, not hard to do even at midnight. Then it was off to one of the many casino's to gamble.

Friday I entered my first Tournament in Vegas a $40 NLHE game that got about 75 entrants. I didn't do bad got knocked out in 12th when My KK ran into a guy stealing the blinds with A 7 (but it was sooted).

Now onto the good stuff. Saturday we were to meet the group at Ceasar's at Cafe Largo. Daniel was gonna meet us there for Brunch but was running late and said he would just meet us after in the poker room. So after lunch they gave each Team $50 and 30 minutes to go to Bet on sports and make a wager the team that won the most money got the most points. ( the whole weekend was a points competition with the top three teams getting cash prizes). I place two $25 bets on three team parlay's only to lose one game in each parlay. Not a great start.

Then we headed to the poker room to start a two table Tourny that included Daniel. Now the best part of this is we didn't find out until the day before the trip that our Wives would be able to play and my wife (as most of the other's there) has never played poker so I gave her some general advice. Any Ace and a face card if raised to you go all in. Any Ace and a 8 or higher suited go all in. Any pocket pair 7's or higher go all in lol. Well I finished in 13th and My wife knocks Daniel out in 4th when he went all in with A 7 and she looks down to find A J and calls. She ended up in 3rd but that was because I never gave her short handed advice and sat there in pain watching her fold the button with hands like K J suited lol. oh well that was a major highlight of her weekend. We also have her beating him on video if anyone is interested.

So after the poker game we headed off to ESPN zone to eat and watch the Hockey game. Dinner started with a Salad then they brought out chicken wings. Then I ordered a sirloin steak and Fries. The only reason I am telling you what I had is because I was the person Daniel picked on for the eating challenge he has at each one of his events. He noticed I ate all my dinner and plus had wings and salad and being 5'6" tall and weighing right around 145 - 150 he decided to see if I was up to a challenge of eating a whole carrot cake in 3 minutes. So I accepted the challenge and the clock started. Down went piece one in about 10 seconds. Then piece two very fast. On Piece three it startd getting dry so I drank some beer and onto the next piece. after only 49 seconds I was done with 5 of 8 pieces. So Daniel starts yelling he will give me $100 to quit now. then $200 My wife who barley ate anything is yelling no deal. so I told him I didn't care if he offered $1000 I wasn't quitting. Piece 6 and 7 went down pretty easy with some more beer then I had 1:20 left on the clock and only one piece to go, so I took my time just to watch him count out the money. I finished with 36 seconds to spare and was $500 richer for my trouble. everyone thought forsure that I was going to throw it up but I was able to keep it down the rest of the night and next day. So after all that we departed and went back to the hotel a few of us went to gamble then my wife and I were off to bed around 2:30.

Sunday we went to Daniel's at about 11:00 AM he has a very nice setup we also got to meet his Mother and wife. We played some Golden Tee, NBA Jam and more poker all for points. Then we left to go to some indoor go kart place. These go kart's were amazing they got up to 40 MPH in this small indoor track alot of bumping and spinning others out. We finished the weekend with Daniel at PT Pub where we played pool and ate dinner. then about 8:00 PM it was back to the hotel where they set up a private table for us to play a sit & go. at the end of the weekend My wife and I took 3rd in the team points competition which wasn't bad between that and the carrot cake and some Pai Gow I ended up winning a decent amount of money for the trip.

Anyway I had an amazing time and just wanted to share with you all about what a great guy Daniel turned out to be very down to earth and easy to chat with.
