Re: Jumprope
Even a half hour of jumping rope is pretty tough if you're not used to it -- whether that be on your calves or aerobically. And not that many people don't find ten minutes straight pretty darn good exercise. That's supposedly equal to a half hour of jogging.
Personally I think it's best to do it in a varied program, as kind of a cool-down from upper body exercises and alternatively a more aerobic interval to them. For instance, doing a whole bunch of push-ups, then jumping rope for 3 to 5 minutes, then a few sets of pull-ups, then jump rope. If you're in good shape, keep adding, like a round of shadow boxing and then jumping rope, and/or a round of deep knee bends/Hindu squats then jumping rope. Once you're in good enough shape to sustain a tough pace doing this, you can get a really excellent work-out in as little as 20 minutes or so. Another good thing to do is, when you are watching t.v., jump up between commercials and jumprope all the way through them. It's only a minute or three, but it can add up over the course of an hour or three of t.v. Besides, if you're going to be doing something like watch t.v., you should do something smart to counter-act it! You owe yourself. |
