I will be in Vegas from July 2nd - 11th staying at the MGM Grand.
Of course, I will spend the vast majority of my waking hours at the poker tables, but I will also need to connect to the internet daily with my laptop, to keep an eye on my email, twoplustwo, post on my blog, etc. As I am somewhat of a cheapskate, I don't particularly want to pay MGM for the privilege of connecting to their WiFi. I just turned up the following link via google http://www.wififreespot.com/nev.html which seems to suggest that the only free WiFi service within easy (July!) walking distance of the MGM is the Krispy Kreme franchise inside Excaliber. Several questions: 1. Can anyone verify that the Excaliber Krispy Kreme WiFi exists and is reliable? 2. Could anyone estimate how long it would take to walk briskly from the MGM to the Excaliber Krispy Kreme (ie, which side of the Excal property is it on)? 3. Can anyone suggest any other South Strip Free WiFi locations that might be more convenient/reliable? 4. Does anyone have experience of the MGM WiFi? Does it work well in the guest rooms? Many thanks. How much value do you put on your time? I would estimate from your room to outside of the MGM where the pedestrian bridges is 10-15 minutes including waiting for the elevators. I have never stayed their before, but the casino is a maze and from valet to the street is not a short distance. Another 5 to cross the street via two overhead bridges. Another 3 mins to get inside the Excalabur from the bridges via the moving sidewalk. Probably another 5-10 to get to the krispy kreme inside. Multiply that by 2 and if you could do it in less than an hour travel time, you would be one fast walker.

Thanks Dennisa.
This might still be do-able, as I walk insanely fast. I am figuring that I could hit the Excal Food Court (where I have discovered the Krispy Kreme is located) for brunch and a web catch-up each day. Does anyone know if this free WiFi actually exists? (or know of any others?) |

Bump.
Does nobody have any experience or comments on using WiFi on the South Vegas Strip? Thanks, Rob |

If you have a car, I can confirm that the Starbucks across from the Orleans has decent wifi, but its not free.

You can come to my condo inside the Las Vegas Country Club and use my wireless. I will only charge you $5 and that includes free bottled water or gatorade.
