AQs in a huge pot
Great 20/40 at the Borg
Girl limps in mp (she plays any 2 really and plays them badly, open limped on the button with K9o, Limped 95s utg, more importantly, limp-reraised KJo one orbit ago and took down a pretty large pot.) miscellaneous guy limps I raise AQ [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]on the button Sb, this lady, who wrote a poker book but is playing like a moron calls BB folds, Girl 3-bets, miscellaneous calls, I cap, all call. Flop 9 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]10 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Sb bets, girl raises, miscellaneous folds, I 3-bet, both call. Turn 6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Checked around (big mistake?) River J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Both check, I bet. . .as a bluff I understand that if I get called I can not win, but is this bet worth it enough if they fold 910, or 10J in this spot? |

i think givin a free card here is bad given huge chance your still leading |

i'd bet/ fold on the turn, and check behind the river. i agree with vlade, free card is terrible given that dangerous of a board

Re: AQs in a huge pot
I know the game you were sitting in, I wanted to change tables because it was so good. Bet that turn. Poker author woman is known to get very frisky with zippo but she will play cautiously 9x out of ten here so you don't have to worry about getting popped with anything less than a set from her (she won't slowplay this), other opponent is weak, might even fold a premium pair if you bet the turn.

Re: AQs in a huge pot
I watched this hand as it took place...
I would've really liked to see you make a bet on the turn. I think the pot at this time was near or over $500, and if these idiots in the hand are on straight draws without spades, I think you have some fold equity. The problem in my opinion with checking the turn is that any spade, 8, J, or K likely kills your hand... since a good percentage of the deck sucks for you, I think you gotta charge them for their draws, and give them a chance to fold in this monster pot. As played, I like a quick river bet as a bluff, although I think the turn bet would've made your life a lot easier. -Eric |

RESULTS:
in the end, the book lady hemmed and hawed and finally called with Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]!!!! I turned my hand over and she said "damn, you got it"
Then someone pointed out she had a straight and she was shocked. Great |

Re: AQs in a huge pot
Does anybody like just cold-calling the flop and popping the turn if a safe card falls.
Given the flop action, I think Hero needs to ebt the turn here. |

If the dealer hadn't identified it, she would have. It's one of her ways of putting her opponents on tilt. |

Re: RESULTS:
This might be true sometimes but I doubt here, she actually managed to turn her cards over and muck them face down. Someone then grabbed them out of the muck pile and tabled them.
