Default Looking to spice up a new home game

Friends,

I started a home game last weekend and it went over with moderate success. The game is 25 min buyin dealer's choice but mostly no-limit hold'em and omaha with .25 and .50 blinds. I'm looking for a way to spice it up a little though because most of the players are tight. And most of those that are tight only want to play hold'em which makes it even more boring. Wild card games are out of the question as everyone hates them. So what can I do to spice it up a little?

Bounties in a cash game? I'll work on the naked chicks.

Try talking them into a limit or no limit tournament or, if they insist on playing multiple games, try a H.O.R.S.E. tournament. In H.O.R.S.E the games are limit hold 'em, Omaha/8, razz, seven-card stud (high), and seven-card stud high-low (the e standing for 8-or-better).

I don't think most would go for the tourney idea. Maybe if we had more people and could start a side game up once people bust out, but most of us have to schedule around to get together so I don't see people liking busting out and having to wait for an extended period of time to get back into the action.

I do like the horse idea though. Maybe changing it to some kind of mixed game wouldn't be a bad idea. I'll see what people think about that.

------

I also thought about introducing a sort of kill pot where if someone wins two pots in row, they would have to "blind it" for 4xBB. Only problem is, people are hesitant to raise once the pot has been blinded.

Introduce Crazy Pineapple, which is just like hold-em except that everyone is dealt three cards, with one card discarded face-down after the flop. Obviously, being dealt three cards increases the number of players seeing the flop, and even the biggest hold-em nit will rarely object to this game.

P.S. This is my favorite game, so I always try to make sure it is included in any (C)HOSE home game in which I play.

Yeah, Crazy Pineapple is great for loosening up rocks.

You can also live-straddle every orbit and occasionally try to get the whole table to straddle for an orbit. That's usually good lubricant.

You could also be passive-aggressive about it and call razz every time it's your turn. Tell them you're going to call it, "Until the damn game loosens up! You guys are so tight you should LOVE razz!"

This sounds like a great idea. We're starting in an hour so I'll let you know how it goes.

I've posted a straddle a few times with some success. I'll definitely throw it into the mix more often. The second idea is golden, and I'll be sure to keep it in my bag of tricks.

1) High hand jackpot (this is a good trick for getting people to stay until the game ends.)
2) bigger blinds (loosens players up) or make the dealer post a blind (not unheard of in NL)
3) sushi eating conest w/jackpot
4) some females in the game
5) topless or scantly clad female dealer
6) chips with parrot pictures on them
7) German fetish porno movies on a big screen
8) PLO short handed (under 7) NLH full table (over 7)
9) Journey live in Houston playing continously
