Will someone PLEASE tell me what the hell "define your hand" means and why it is a desirable thing to do?

A flat call probably means you'll face another bet on the next round of betting and you still won't have a better idea of what hand your opponent has. So defining your hand means getting a much more accurate picture of the relative strength of your hand.

From my experience, this isn't an ace as often as one might think.

The problem is that the cost in chips of trying to extract this "extra" information is almost always too high. That bet on the next street contains information as well, and you don't need to pay for it now.

Did you think about pushing the flop? His bet looks kind of like a probe, suggesting he might fold to a push. If he was going to call a push, then he probably wouldn't lead out, but check-raise push himself. Just thinking out loud.

with stacks and utg big stack limper, im more inclined to push, but if not, im looking to raise to t4 or 500 and get it in on any flop. i think limper has a decently wide range to call your push which is certainly 1 in favor of pushing but if he calls your PF committing raise he'll also call any flop bet so that is also an option.

as played, i think you either have to fold flop or take it all the way.

I play it 100% the same. Nh. Preflop is good. Maybe sligthly more.
