Your play is fine. If you don't improve on the turn (here you improved your draw, which is good) you should be folding without great implied odds.

Like you said you probably can't move him on the turn so it's best just to call since you picked up enough additional outs to continue. The fact that you got paid though is more due to a less likely straight hitting instead of one where a 8/7/6 hit. And backdoor straights typically have better implied odds than flushes.
