[/ QUOTE ]I dunno. They don't have it on the website anymore. It was H440 or something like that. Yes, it has an optical out.

Creative Zen Micro, not color, 6 GB. All I needed and the pros and cons of this vs Ipod were already listed.

iaudio X5 60GB (made by Cowon) and 32 hours of battery life. Not tied into iTunes, drag and drop files onto your player from any computer, plays all formats (not just mp3, aac etc but ogg, flac, wma etc). Looks cool too. If you want video though, go for ipod 60GB with rockbox firmware (www.rockbox.org).

I've got a creative Zen too. It's decent, but lets face it, the interface/buttons/navigation is pretty lame. In fact, I'm glad that I bought it based off of reviews, rather than playing with it first.

I would probably like an iPod better, but then again, Napster To Go is pretty effing sweet. It's like unlimited Netflix for music.

I love my Creative MP3 player. It's insanely durable and I bought it a year and a half ago. I sometimes take it bouldering and it has survived a lot of falls. I've fallen 10-15 feet and landed directly on it and had it shut off from the impact, but then it started back up no problem. Pretty impressive.

I've also dropped my Creative because I always have it with me while running and apart from a few scratches it's been fine.

I have the Sony Walkman MP3 and like it fine. It's not earth-shattering or anything, but I like it.

The only reason I got it is because it was the only mp3 player I had enough Party Points for at the time, and wanted one I could throw a couple CDs worth of mp3s on while working out.

I started with the rio 128MB MP3 player (before the iPod existed) - Crap

Moved to the iRiver H120 which I absolutly loved until it was stolen from me. This was by far my favorite MP3 player of all time, great interface, great battery life, support for all types of files, wonderful. I would have gotten another one but it wasn't available after it was stolen, and the new model was not nearly as highly rated.

Then I got the iAudio X5, which really had interface problems but other than that was alright. It broke on me really quickly though and I'm working on getting it replaced by warranty.

I have used iPod many times in many aspects, and frankly I will admit they are a very well put together MP3 player. I think the iPod nano 4GB is superior to any MP3 player I have used in terms of the functionality I need. The price really isn't that terrible either.

What were the problems, specifically? I've been considering buying an X5. I have the M3 and I like the interface.
