Default Do I have to leave this game?

I was playing poker at a full table, all the players were of fairly even skill, every pot I won got raked $4 and all the other players got raked only $3. I complained to the dealer but he said 'I have no idea what you are talking about, everyone pays the same'. This got fairly tiresome after a while so I left as I didn't think it was fair. When I enquired to management about what I saw they claimed they didn't do it at all, this regardless of the fact people were talking about it non stop. So do I have to leave this game? And can games like this last long term?

Regards Mack

If you're getting the worst of it from a casino or card room, you have every right to complain and tell the ****s what is wrong and why you're leaving. The clubs' management feels everyone in there is a sucker, anyway.

You have an unseen opponent taking chips periodically off your stack each time you enter a casino- the casino. Witness the jackpot rake ripoff- I have yet to have a single card room explain exactly where all that jackpot rake goes, or how long it takes to disburse. I say don't let 'em take anything they're not entitled to.

That's not really what have the worst of it means. OP didn't say that playing at this table was -EV, only that the casino was taking more from him than from the others. His opponents might be giving up more through their donkish play than he's giving up in rake, in which case he wouldn't have the worst of it -- he'd just be getting treated unfairly.

Conceivably the game could be so good that you might shut up and gladly pay the extra dollar. I would still leave on principle, but not everyone's as easily offended as me.

wow, I would have sat there and repeated the rake to the dealer as he was taking it every hand. I would have also asked the poker room manager to have the dealer announce and show the rake each hand. If that were done to me (I would never notice it though) I would be pissed.

Was it every dealer, or just one?

Where do you live? In my state it would be a matter of about one phone call to get the room fined or worse.

But with the rake being taken progressively, how did the dealer know in advance that you were going to win the pot? Are you suggesting he maxed out at $3 and then, on seeing that you'd won, grabbed an extra dollar every time?
