Not sure if wagers will be offered or not on The Omen. Like Jason said, it comes out on an odd date as a marketing ploy. But since that's next Tuesday, and lines normally come out on Wednesday or Thursday, they may not offer a weekend wager. I suppose if enough people e-mail them, they may offer a line on it on Monday.

i have heard *amazing* things about this movie.

Ebert & Roeper gave The Omen two thumbs up as well, so it looks like some official reviewers in addition to Granny's friends also think it's amazing (although critics are split overall with 45% on Rotten Tomatoes).

I e-mailed the books, and they said they'll try to get lines out on The Omen, hopefully by tonight. If they don't get them out by Tues morning, my guess is that they don't offer them at all, since box office figures on it will be out by Wed. Either way, there will still be Cars to look forward to. We'll start a new thread when lines come out.

Wrapping up this last weekend, congrats if anyone picked the Over, as The Break-Up went way over, on the strength of a 67% female crowd that apparently really wanted to see this. DVC and OTH were fairly close, with OTH slightly beating out DVC.

Overall, thumbs up from me.

most critics hate this film, no?

[/ QUOTE ]

Don't know. Most critics hated The Davinci Code, too. I saw that, thought it was good. Not an Oscar winner or anything, but entertaining.

With both of those movies, I don't really get how somebody could "hate" them. They are fine. Just because it's not the number one best movie ever doesn't mean it's bad.

If I was using a binary, thumbs-up, thumbs-down scale for both, I'd go thumbs-up.

Man, I should've bet on the box office.

Think people will ever start to fix box office numbers.

Max bets is the only deterrant, requiring a decent sized 'crew'

Looks like I missed two for two of these box office posts. I'm betting on the next one; please tell me where to gamble my money.

Most sites limit these bets to $600, you will need that upped to a couple million and then I still think it is unprofitable.

I'm looking forward to seeing The Omen. I went to see The Break-Up this weekend and it was okay but I didn't like how they left the ending.
