Academy is fine.

I've taken the bus from 86th St. on the east side lots of times. It's 28-29 bucks with 20 back when you get to whatever casino. Going back there is a set schedule with the return busses leaving from different casinos at different times. The only potential hassle is if a particular bus fills up so be sure to get there 15 min. ahead of time. Although I have never been shut out, personally.

However, coming in at midnight on a friday and heading to ac for just the night seems like way more hassle than it's worth.

You can take the Academy bus back one way from AC, if you talk to the bus driver you may get it cheap as they really don't care. This mostly works late at night, and not a busy weekend. If your bus stops at Showboat, you get $20 in cash and you don't even have to walk into the casino.

Take the Greyhound bus to the AC Hilton. The fare is $31 round trip but Hilton gives you $20 cash back and an $8 food comp. Also, the Hilton attracts an older, more reserved clientele so there are fewer people bringing bottles of rum and live chickens with them for the bus ride.

It's funny cause it's true!

Also, thanks for the tip.

I take the Academy from 86th St and it's a fine ride. I didn't like the Greyhound the time I took it. Get off at the Showboat and they give you $20 cash. It's a great deal.
