I get 55 in the small blind, four or five limpers and I call. Flop is Q85 with a two flush. Button is pretty aggressive, so I go for a check-raise. I check, button bets, I check-raise, everyone else folds and the button calls. Turn is an 8, putting Q858 on the board. I lead out and the button calls. Turn is a Q, making the board Q858Q, with no flush possible.
OK, I figure that I can't possibly be called by any hand that I have beat, even by this opponent, so I check and the button bets. The pot is about 7BB or so after he bets. What's my play here? Button is a minor LAG, around 35/12/2.0 or so. |

So you're asking if you should fold a full house for 1 bet? on the river? getting 7:1? after you check to induce a bluff? from a LAG?
The answer is no. Also, your flop c/r is awful. Lead that flop. |

I call... if Button is "pretty" aggressive... I dont figure he has an 8, an 8 most likely would have reraised the turn. and alot of ML aggros would have raised the turn with a queen, and most likely would have raised the flop with a queen... i figure he's got a flush draw or 9T J9 JK TJ... for 1 more bet, i call here and probably get shown an Ace high flush draw

you're toast but i would pay to see it. nothing you really can do. Why exactly is the c/r awful?

The c/r is awful because it faces the field with two cold. Or, if button checks it through, it faces the field with zero.
We have a set. We want to get money in the pot. Bet and hope to 3bet. |

this is true, but with a good read on the button betting wouldnt the most money go into the pot on this street with a c/r

No, the most money goes into the pot when a couple of the limpers call our first bet, then get trapped calling more bets after Button raises and we 3bet.

To put it another way: if the aggressive player were on our LEFT, we would want to c/r. Since the aggressive player is on our RIGHT, we would rather lead out. You dig?

I agree that leading the flop is the way to go with aggressive button this allows you to trap the field for more bets. A check raise is not going to fold any flush draws anyway so I would just try to get as much money in the pot as possible.
I would check/call river. |
