Default AKs from the small blind in six handed tournament.

Discussion on the play of AKs in small blind. Six handed tournament.

Six handed.
UTG folds
LAA raises 3.5 ($150)times the Blind. ($2000)
TAA otb calls. ($1200)
Small blind holding AKs ? What would you do? ($1100)

Easily raise. There's no point calling here, and having to be out of position on the flop.

Define the situation now by raising. If you are re-raised, reanalyze the situation.

Unless you really feel like getting tricky, push it all in. 375 in the pot...a good raise would have to be to 700...might as well make it 1100 and put all the pressure on the others.

Pushing now negates your positional disadvantage on the flop.

Oops, didn't see the chip stacks there. Yes, go all in.

I'm pushing it all in here. You don't look to be in horrible shape, if they call, and with your dwindling stack size, this is a great opportunity to pick up those loose chips in there, if they muck.

There is no time to "reanalyze" here...you move all in. Once you raise you are committed IMO. Get the max out of your fold equity and give yourself a shot to more than double up if called. It is unlikely you are in bad shape if called.

You have top two pair, and thanks to your call preflop and bet on the flop you only have like 700 left right? Easy call here.

This play seems very timid to me, if you're not going to push all in preflop then you at least have to push when you hit that flop. You could be behind a set of Jacks or maybe QTs but you're too short stacked to care at this point.

Most likely the other player has an A and saw your smooth call and small bet as weakness and is trying to blow you off the hand.
