UTG is 65/9/.5 - Bad but not entirely retarded. Likes to slowplay big hands.

No, this is not standizil. You should bet this turn. You will have the best hand often enough on this board after that flop action against these clowns to justify a turn bet.

Once you check the turn, folding is the best play.

This is why I have no problems check/folding this. Either UTG has us beat, or he hit his ridonkulous overs.

Whether the turn check is good or not, I like seeing it. Because the mediocre and bad and so-so players at 5/10 6-max that I face never do this.

That's a crappy turn card for you, so there's your check. And then what was UTG cold-calling with? Well, if it was JT, he's betting despite the king, which is somewhat bold. (And he's not particularly aggressive either.)

I doubt you're good often enough to call down.
