Please check these specs for a new desktop
I wasn't getting any answers on the other board and I want to buy this now. Please help. Dell E510 Desktop 1G memory w/ a 2007fp 20" monitor for $827 shipped.
I have 3 main options I'm not sure about: 1. $128 to go from 1Gig to 2Gig memory 2. $88 to go from 2.8 GHz Pentium D to a 3.4 GHz Pentium 4. 3. $32 to go from 128MB video card to 256MB I will be 8-tabling at some point and will add a 2nd monitor. Would these upgrades be overkill? Should I pull the trigger on this bad boy? No gaming, just multi-tabling. What if any changes should I make to these specs? Thanks for your comments. Well, I got anxious and went ahead and got it. I hope it'll do. Looked like a good deal.

That's fine, I hope you got 2 GB of memory though.

No, 1 Gig. Not enough?

Re: Please check these specs for a new desktop
I have 1 Gig and its not enough at all. I multitask a bunch but 1 Gig will get you maybe 15 web browsers at once before it starts slowing down and overloading (plus some basic stuff that starts with your computer). Yesterday I had 4 poker rooms up and about 8 web sites and the little task manager thing showed i was overloaded. Gotta get more.

Gotta get more. [/ QUOTE ] Gotta shut stuff down when you're not using it. The sort of people who want 20 applications open at once will just complain they can only open 50 at once when given a higher-spec machine. They actually need to learn how to use the one they've got more sensibly... |

I caught it in time. 2 GB RAM now.
Like Clarence said in True Romance "It's better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it." |
