Default Percentage of hands played

What is the typical % of hands you play in a tournament? I think I'm playing too tight, as it is usually around 16%.

I would say you don't make it deep in the tourneys this is averaged from - as bubble play, big stack play, and shorthanded play tends to make that number higher. 16% is probably fine to pick a spot to double in early levels, but you won't make the FT if you manage to play a hand once every two orbits when you aren't in SB or BB..

I'm usually around 27% first 2 hours, 21% after that.

But I'm nuts.

If that's your average percentage after busting out of the tournament, then yes I'd say you're playing too tight. Starting off conservative is fine if you're not a fan of the super-aggressive style. But through the mid-late stages of the tournament you need to open up your game more if you want to stay ahead of the blinds. I'm inclined to believe you aren't doing so if you're ending with only 16% of your hands played.
