Re: Personality types-that make best poker players?
[ QUOTE ]
Technically, it is nonsensical to try to make a distinction between ADD and ADHD, since ADD is just the layman's name for the subtype of ADHD that is the "inattentive" type, versus the "hyperactive" type. [/ QUOTE ] This is absolutely correct. |

Re: Personality types-that make best poker players?
Someone with ADHD could be a good poker player, but it certainly would be a hinderance and would not be a helpful feature (especially if it was not treated).

Re: Personality types-that make best poker players?
there was a thread where many successful 2p2ers took an online personality test, and, guess what, we were all over the board with our personalities. From that one informal study, I'm prepared to see that there is not one good personality.

Re: Personality types-that make best poker players?
The best personality trait for poker IMO is independent-mindedness. I'm talking people who say F to all types of authority and live life by their own rules. I'm not sure what the official name for this is, but we can call it a superiority complex without being too far off.
Without this trait, one tends to fall into the trap of letting players with big stacks and/or big names run over them because of a subconscious feeling of inferiority and a perceived expectation of subservience that they subconsciously tend to satisfy. On a related note, I've noticed that a-holes have MUCH better results than nice guys on average. |

I agree w all of this and would take it a step farther and say a certain sense of entitlement is probably prevalent.

[/ QUOTE ] That's cool, i'd like to see it, i think your right- but do you think differnt' personalities could bring differnt benefits to the game?-I think it's this which makes me believe there could be a perfect personality type. Also what was used to classify successful players. It seems successful could be all over the place. |

Re: Personality types-that make best poker players?
super lags who drink rum & coke, over-use the chat box, and play on Party Poker are the best personality type.
By disregarding all notions of pot odds and expected value, they can concentrate on building a large pot in preparation for the 2-outer they will be given, by the Party "R"NG, on the river. |
