Default Bank of America ban?

Anyone else get one of these? I take it Neteller transactions should still be safe. Right?

Dear XXXXXXXXXX,

Due to the risks associated with current online gambling laws, Bank of
America has instituted a policy to decline authorizations for any
identifiable online gaming transactions. Please be aware that if we do
not identify the transaction as a gambling transaction, the item may
posted to your account. Please note that Bank of America is not
interested in telling customers what they may or may not do with their
money. We merely wish to limit our exposure to the risk management
issues associated with Internet gambling.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. If we may be
of further assistance, please contact us again by e-mail.

Sincerely,

Hannah Demi

Try it and see. Try depositing to Neteller, the worst thing that happens is the transaction is blocked.

No but they are strongly associated with online gambling, and their main customer base is online gamblers.

I've never been able to transfer money directly with BoA. Neteller's never been a problem.

Right, but i don't think BOA will have a problem with sending money back and forth to neteller since it isn't a gambling site.

I transfer a % of my 'profits' out each month from Neteller to BofA and haven't had any problems. Fortunately, I made my first deposit in October 04 and haven't made one since so I don't know if deposits can be made still.

if they decline EFTs from neteller, is it also safe to assume they'll decline checks from neteller?

I've had a Neteller withdrawl hit my BoA account as recently as this morning, so I don't think its an issue. Buying into Neteller via bank, I'm not sure...haven't done that in years

The constitution protects one’s personal right to send money from a U.S. bank or financial institution to a business outside of the United States.

If BoA blocked NETeller then there would be serious legal ramifications (NETeller would probably sue BoA for discrimination [1]).

John

[1] Just because NETeller is associated with online gaming, does not mean that there are other non-gambling sites where you can spend your money. It would be giving another company such as Paypal an "unfair" advantage...
