Re: Mensa, where all the beautiful people have gone
At least that Elizabeth has some Tatties on her!
Jeesh, I've never officially tried out for mensa, I've always teetered on the idea, but this doesn't make me want to do so, although I do have the (apparently) mandatory beard! |

Re: Mensa, where all the beautiful people have gone
I'd like to thank everyone for posting these pics.
I never joined Mensa, and I've often wondered what I've been missing. Forget about the freaks for a moment, and check out the jigsaw puzzle in the background. THAT'S WHAT THEY DO AT THOSE EVENTS? PUZZLES? I'm now going to celebrate my decision to NOT join, by eating a big ice cream cone. |

Re: Mensa, where all the beautiful people have gone
[ QUOTE ]
this is a mild hijack, but is it even that difficult to get into Mensa? [/ QUOTE ] Here are the requirements to get into American Mensa: http://www.us.mensa.org/Content/AML/Navi...fyingScores.htm [ QUOTE ] I remember seeing the "youngest member of Mensa ever" on Jay Leno one night, and Jay asked her what the planet farthest from the sun was (he had been asking her a bunch of questions that seemed pretty obviously rehearsed) and it took her ~3 guesses to get it right. [/ QUOTE ] First, I believe the youngest Mensa member is 4 years old. Second, the question is a knowledge question, not an intelligence question. To make a computer analogy, intelligence is basically a measure of the processing power of your brain, while Leno asked a question that merely required the information to already be on her hard drive. If you ask Stephen Hawking how many career home runs Henry Aaron has, he probably wouldn't know. Doesn't mean he's not intelligent, or that the hundreds of people on baseball forums who can answer that question off the top of their head are more intelligent than him. |
