1/2 FR 88 overpair vs pfr continue?
This is a hand from a poker video I was watching.
Preflop Hero is UTG+2 with 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Folded to hero who open limps. Still to act behind hero is TAG,LAG, ultra tight TAG, TAG, LAG, LP SB and TAG BB. TAG(16/6.5/1.24 -256 hands) to Hero's left Raises. Folded to Hero who calls. Flop: (5SB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Hero donks out, Villain pauses for about 5 seconds then raises. Hero calls. Turn: (4.5BB) 10[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Hero checks, TAG bets, Hero folds. Comments? |

a checkraise is going to get more value/fold more hands.

Re: 1/2 FR 88 overpair vs pfr continue?
If the board was rainbow and we're up against overs, it's 6:1 on the flop which isnt really enough to peel, but if we checkraise it offers 8:1, bloats the pot and ties the opponent in for the turn.
If a diamond comes, we can represent the flush draw and push him off. If you're villain do you always raise overs in this spot? Do you ever take a free card on the turn with overs? |

Bad play here. A raise on the flop can very easily mean something like AK with one of the correct suit. If hero folds the turn after a blank hits he should have folded to the raise on the flop.

Does that make up enough of his range for us to afford to see a showdown?
