55, $177 @ 3/6
$3/$6, STINKY311 was the donk who raised every other hand but couldn't miss. I capped with 55 preflop in order to get more $ in the middle, is that a right play?

Re: 55, $177 @ 3/6
Pre-flop: I don't think capping is justified here at all. You have put in 2BB with a hand that is only good for set value. You have a 1/8 chance of hitting a set on the flop. Therefore you need to expect to make 16BB just to break even (and then, this is assuming 100% win rate if you do hit your set). I don't think this play is ever justified.
Flop: You should realise you are beaten once you see the 3-bet. The cap is spew. Turn: You lead out the betting, which would indicate you still think you are ahead here. At this point what could your opponents possibly have that they would be sticking around for? |

Please tell me where you play where opponents will re-raise pre-flop with any of those hands, and then show continued aggression with drawing hands. You are in a hand with 3 other people, all who called a pre-flop cap. After the flop bet, all 3 are still in the hand with you despite the betting being capped. You are beat here 99% of the time. I don't think you give your opponents nearly enough credit. |

Re: 55, $177 @ 3/6
"The flop cap with bottom set is completely standard and it surprises me that you believe hero to behind as soon as 3 bets go in on a coordinated flop."
Independant of pre-flop action I'd cap it as well, but 4 people in a hand that was capped pre-flop.... The thought of an over-set has to enter your mind when you encounter such strong aggression on the flop bets. I'm not suggesting giving up at this point, but I think you're beat here often enough to limit yourself to call-downs. There's also a risk with capping a set on the flop of telegraphing your hand to everyone. Usually sets are well disguised, but a flop cap should set all the alarm bells off. "On the turn, everyone but hero and one other villan has slowed down and begun call down mode. Since the A hit on the turn and villan is still not slowing up, I would start to slow down here." A lead-out here was a mistake by the OP. If I wasn't in call-down mode before I certainly would be after seeing the ace, since an opponent with AA is also very likely given the betting. |

Re: 55, $177 @ 3/6
So I should swtich to call down mode on turn once I saw the raise from the guy holding 77? How is that justified? If I knew I was beat isn't it better to fold?
I agree AA is a likely hand but if he hit his two outer I'd pay off anyway. I don't know if it's correct but I was happy to make the fish to pay a couple of big bets for his draw. (and didn't hit) I thought of the str8 on flop, but figured I was getting odds to chase so I capped the turn. (not enough to chase the 1 outer, though) Couple of beats like this and I'm down 100 big bets again... |

Re: 55, $177 @ 3/6
no. Raising just him to get him heads up, thats a good play. But your screwing with someone else here, and 55 is not worth 3 bets cold ever.

Re: 55, $177 @ 3/6
Actually isolating with a pocket pair isnt always the best play. You're still going to be a coinflip against his overcards, while missing out on the set value you have if you let others into the hand.
