Default Quick SB preflop Q

6max- fishy table.

UTG limps, folds to hero in SB with A4s...

What factors should be affecting your decisions here...?
Sometimes I raise to fold out BB, sometimes I call... not sure what to do and when to do it though. I don't like playing A4s OOP but I would rather be against 1 opponent with this hand.

doesn't really matter.

If you want to turn a slight profit margin, I'd limp it.

For variance purposes, you might want to muck because it's going to take a ton of hands to show and definitive profit.

Depends on how it fits your game.

if UTG is really loose (like vpip > 50), and BB is tightish (vpip <25), then I iso raise. Otherwise I complete.

That's a dumb reason to muck a suited ace from the small blind heads up.

I disagree. Not everyone wants to put themselves in high variance situations that produce marginal profitability.

This is precisely the reason why there are plenty of 13-15 VPIP players out there who are perfectly content with their games and winrates.

I think you're undervaluing the value of your suited ace very often seeing a flop for .5 SB. I don't think this is a hand with "marginal profitability" against two completely random cards.

Edit: Crap. UTG limped... But I still think that this is a solid preflop limp.

Are you implying you'd limp a suited ace when folded to you on the small blind?

Usually not, but I might. It depends on how villain plays preflop and postflop. If I limp, it's because he's loose preflop and weak postflop. And when I limp, I'm autobetting any flop.

But heads up against BB, limping a suited ace from SB is almost certainly turning a decent profit. Raising is just more profitable.
