Re: bad beat from my bank: they \"don\'t condone\" my profession
Why don't you tell this bank to go [censored] themselves? There is surely more than one bank where you live.

[ QUOTE ]
Now that I look at what they gave me, it was about 1% better than neteller, so maybe party IS the way to go, altho I think you still might get structuring problems if you are withdrawing very often. The problem is that party wires the money in USD and then the bank converts it, as opposed to party converting it and wiring it in CDN$ -Mike [/ QUOTE ] no, party does the conversion, and the difference is closer to 3% than 1%. (if you do an EFT. wiring is different.) |

wow good idea i hadn't thought of that [/ QUOTE ] So what's the problem? I can't imagine appealing to the bank to "let" them keep your business. They need to work for your business, not the other way around. |

Re: bad beat from my bank: they \"don\'t condone\" my profession
all i have to do is write an email, and i'd really like to see his response to it. if they turn down the appeal oh well, i can go elsewhere. the problem is the bank decided to not let me make these withdrawals because (they claim) they don't approve of me gambling online. besides being totally ridiculous, what's stopping the next bank from saying the same thing? it sounds like other people haven't had any issues, but apparently i was withdrawing larger amounts so i attracted more attention. this is the first time i've ever heard of something like this happening, and hopefully it's the last.

Re: bad beat from my bank: they \"don\'t condone\" my profession
Granted I'm fairly ignorant on bank policies, but a while back I looked into the hold-time on foreign currency cheques, and Scotia's was the worst. Like 30 business days or something. Completely frustrating and unnecessary.
What's next? Maybe they'll decide they don't condone of black people earning money and refuse to allow them to deposit into their bank. This is potentially discrimination. Can these businesses really just decide who they do and do not serve? There's really no need to worry (and I'm sure you're not) when most other banks will be content earning interest off of your money. Please let us know how this turns out. I'm very interested in what the higher-ups decide. |

I use Presidents Choice which is part of CIBC and I have no problems. I've had nothing but bad experiences with scotia so I stopped giving them my business years ago.

Re: bad beat from my bank: they \"don\'t condone\" my profession
This sounds like a tough issue. A few posts have made it sound like banks are some public institution. They're not. They're businesses. They accept and reject business everyday. But I'm not too familiar with all the bank legislation in this country, let alone Canada. So maybe it isn't totally kosher to reject you like that.
