Re: Leadoff for the Red Sox?
I've really enjoyed watching Wily Mo play over the last month. Perhaps they will go back to their original plan of substitiuting him in RF for Trot against left handed hitting.
It seems hard to find a guy like that regular playtime on this years Red Sox roster, but I hope they hold onto him so he can play should age take it's toll on Trot in the next year or two, or should the annual Manny trade rumors actually capitualize. |

[ QUOTE ] Yucky. What are the Red Sox gonna do with WMP though? Just use him as a backup outfielder? They could trade him and get some SP help maybe. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, maybe they could get a Bronson Arroyo type pitcher for him... [/ QUOTE ] Heh. I was thinking the same thing. |

[/ QUOTE ] lol he will be the 4th outfielder and play against RH starters. between filling in for manny (he usually needs time off mid season for his hammys) crisp and starting against RHP he will see a lot of AB's (nixon is also brittle). he is most likely the starting RF next year. |

Note: I didn't like the Crisp deal to start with, even though I was happy they didn't pay $12M for Damon. I wanted the Sox to use Stern as a place holder for a year and then break the bank to get Andruw Jones. [/ QUOTE ] so instead of getting a cost controlled player at age 26, you would prefer they sign a player for 4-5x as much at age 30 AND suffer through a year of replacement level performance at CF? hmmmmmmmmm |
