Final 2 tables of PS $20, 99 on button

Down to the final 18 of a PS $20 MTT, about 420 started. Villian has been very aggro since he took the chip lead from me with about 25 to go. I'm in about 6th of 18 but the chip stacks are pretty close down to 12th place. The table has been pretty tight, with steals working against almost all except villian.

My image: I got caught stealing by villian on the last round of blinds and folded preflop. I've been stealing when necessary to maintain my stack after giving half of it away to villian a few rounds ago. I flopped two pair from the SB (he was BB) and he slowplayed a turned flush to take the pot.

I was confused about how to proceed here after he checked to me on the flop. Thoughts?

Options:
Check: Looks really weak and is asking to be stolen from on the turn
Bet: Could come over the top w/ air and make you fold the best hand.

I would go w/ a 8-9k bet and go from there.
