AKs... fun deep tourney decisions
1. Paradise 100k, money started at 110, there are 80 left.
I have 66k on 4k BB, and I'm in the BB with AKs. Folded to MP who pushes for 20k. Button then pushes his 100k stack. Button seems fairly strong. He doesn't seem like the type to isolate with KJ or 44, but it certainly could be AJ, 99 type hands... Call/Fold? 2. Super, money at 100, 107 left. Re: AKs... fun deep tourney decisions
1. instacall, but this is just me. this is a perfect +EV and +CEV scenario (imo) and you can do more with the huge stack
2. any notes on this guy? I fold, looks a lot more like 66 than something like AJo |

Re: AKs... fun deep tourney decisions
1. is a pretty easy call.
2. You're pretty much always beat but I think you always have 6 pair outs and a backdoor flush draw so you've got the odds to call getting 3:1. Also you might pick off a fancy stop and go with AK and chop it, though I doubt you see that too often. On the other hand there is probably some value in passing on this marginally +cEV spot and looking for a better spot if you think the chance that this specific player is pulling some kind of move (with AK most likely) is basically 0. Board: Tc 7d 4h Dead: equity (%) win (%) tie (%) Hand 1: 28.3838 % 28.38% 00.00% { AhKh } Hand 2: 71.6162 % 71.62% 00.00% { JdJh } |

Re: AKs... fun deep tourney decisions
I call in hand 1 especially with the extra equity in the pot from the push from the short stack and only 15x BB. I think I consider laying this down if your stack was deeper but at 15x BB I'm looking to take a gamble to make a run at the FT and doubling up right here and there is the possibility your ahead of an iso-push by AJ/AQ.
Hand 2....I'm calling as this looks like a standard stop n go and I want to see all 5 here getting 3-1w AK. If you call and lose you still have better than 10x BB and FE. |

Re: AKs... fun deep tourney decisions
1. I call, button could easily have AJ/AQ or 88/99 just trying to pick up cheap chips. You're way ahead of MPs range. Too easy.
2. Since this is almost never a set and I think villain will occasionally do this w/ AK/AQ, I call. Villain's stupid if he has KK/AA and didn't reraise AI pf. I call because you are getting your 3 to 1 odds to hit your 6 outer when you're behind (+1 out backdoor flush) and you still have ~10bbs if you lose. Plus, a 100k+ stack would be very sweet. |

Re: AKs... fun deep tourney decisions
1st question i believe you should call. big stack is probably isolating as suggested i would say he probably has a medium pocket pair like 10s or jacks at worst and at best aq suited. Besides in these tournaments you only get a certain amount of key hands during the event and with quickly rising blinds sometimes you just gotta go with em, like if you had KK you wouldnt worry about someone having aces even though it is a remote possibility you would put your chips in.
hand 2 - this is a tough problem. if you wanna make your future decisions easier one thing you could do is move all in preflop then he will be the one with the tough decision and you will get to see all 5 cards |

Re: AKs... fun deep tourney decisions
Definite call IMO. Oh I meant hand 2, I didnt even see hand 1. But you gotta call with the AKs.
Call hand 1 for fun also! |

Re: AKs... fun deep tourney decisions
Hand 1 is an easy call. This is very much a position to make an iso-raise. You are WAY ahead of Button's range here. With the dead money in the pot, this is a must call.
As for Hand 2, you reraise the guy PF and showed obvious strength, and then he pushes into you on the turn? I can't imagine he does this with a hand like AQ or worse. I understand that you're getting about 3:1 to call, which is marginal even if you assume you have 6 clean outs. But I think villain has a hand like AT or KT some of the time, so I think this is a fold, albeit a frustrated one. |
