Default Psychological implication of giving a free pot to the opponent?

I am interested in the psychological implications of the hand example discussed here: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showfl...e=0#Post5936267

in the heads-up forum.

Good strategy.

If you have an opponent that will passively let you chip away at him, you can't lose.

If you can pick up 3 out of every 5 pots with minimal risk, you have a gold mine.

But, if you over do it, say, by trying to pick up 5 or 6 pots in a row, you run the risk of annoying your opponent to the point where he starts playing back at you, or he may start getting aggressive, or start bluffing unpredictably.

So, if the cards force you to win 3 or 4 in a row, intentionally giving back a tiny pot is a good way to ease the pressure before your opponents blows up and turns an easy win into a more difficult match.
