Default .50/1.00 Straight on river, what do I do?

5 folds, Button calls, Hero completes, BB checks.

Flop: (3 SB) 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 players)
Hero bets, BB folds, Button calls.

Turn: (2.50 BB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets, Button raises, Hero calls.

River: (6.50 BB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks???

I have no reads. It was early but I hadn't seen anything unusual from villain. My straight is not disguised at all. Is check/raising just stupid here? Is anyone folding the small pot on the turn?

If ya got no reads bet the river,

A c/r on this river really depends on how aggro/stupid your opp is, if you believe he likes his hand so much that he would be blind to the 1 card str8 on the river (unless he has JT), then you can do it.

Also PF is close to a raise, but complete is ok without any reads on button or BB.

Against a microlimit unknown I think this is an easy c/r on the river. Your opponent is likely to keep betting despite the 4-straight (if he even notices) and is unlikely to be good enough to fold the river raise.

I might lean towards c/c, maybe bet/call... I think you'll see JT here quite often. Maybe it's Q9 or something but I'd say JT is the most likely holding for an unknown the way this was played. I'm definitely not folding HU for a single bet though.

That's incredibly weak thinking to think that this is most likely JT. This is often two pair like Q9, a slowplayed AQ/AA/KK, or even a set. JT is definitely in the mix but doesn't appear the majority of the time.

Grunch:

I think whether you fold the turn depends on your read of your opponent.

I'd go for a check/raise on the river most likley.

I'd bet and call a raise. It would suck to have it checked through here and it would suck to be 3 bet after a checkraise.

note: given button open limped I doubt they are a very good player at all and could be passive enough to check through top pair etc...hell, it could be a limped 99, J10 who knows...

I think we're going to be 3-bet against our c/r very rarely against an unknown to worry about how to deal with it.

And if we were, I think that it's still a clear call.

I don't think you can c/r this just cause it would suck balls to have it check through. The turn seems close though, I'm leaning twords a fold on the turn, pot size his range and all.

fair enough. I get the benefits of checkraising and reads would make this decision easier I think.....I dont think its a big deal either way but I'd rather know that Im putting in a guaranteed 1-2 bets on the river rather than 0-3.
