How soft are the WSOP prelim events?

Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of how tough the fields are in the wsop preliminary events?

I'm looking at mebbe entering a smaller NLH event and possibly the stud/8 event that's just before the ME.

The NL will be much softer than the stud/8.
