Re: 15 bb trouble
IMO, A10 in mp2 is a preflop fold or raise. At the table you described, I think a raise is fine if you are confident that a positive percentage of the time, because you are not seeing a lot of laggy reraises etc. etc., you will take the blinds preflop.
With the specific hand in question, based on your description, you get the call from the one player that you want in the hand. He is very likely to have called with a wide range that you are ahead of both pre and post flop. Against certain players who I know are only calling with a very tight range, I may find a check fold here. But, most of the time, and in this case especially, I like a check call allin or check call reraise allin. I think you are right that most of the time, jamming only gets called by better hands and folds everything you beat. With that specific flop, against that player, with the stack size and potsize, I am looking to play that hand for value. IMO, being afraid of any card to come is pointless. I am either beat or way ahead with the villain drawing to 3 or fewer outs. Therefore, the best way to play the hand, if I am committed to the hand, is whatever way gets all my chips in the pot. Since you are committed to the hand, I think your line is 100% correct, particularly against a player you believe will bet with worse hands when you check. |
