Default I want to record myself playing

Any recommendations for a "record yourself playing on-line" set up?

I need:

A PC Camera
A lapel microphone
Software for recording my desktop (must be able to only record a selected portion of the desktop)
Possibly a heart rate monitor as well, one that displays my heart rate on the desktop

Any one ever done this? Any recommendations for any of the above components is appreciated. If you have experience doing this or attempting it, I'd like to hear your thoughts.

How do you plan on combining the external video (PC Camera) and internal video (recording of desktop)?

I think I don't understand your final product, but maybe you'll be happier with just internal software and a mic.

Sam,

My understanding of desktop recording software is that it will record whatever is displayed on your desktop.

So..I would have the vidoe image displayed in a window on the desktop right next to the poker table I'm playing on. The heart rate monitor display (this item is sort of pie-in-the-sky) would be on the desktop as well.

I would select that portion of the desktop to be recorded by whatever desktop recording program i use. Then when a session is over, I'd have an avi or mpeg of myself as I play, along with a narrative.

Kind of like the cardrunners video, but with the addition of video and audio of me as I play.

(I hope this is the best forum for this. I thought about "computer/technical help" but the folks in this forum seem to know a lot more tricks...

Good idea with "recording the webcam recording". I'm not sure you'll find it all that useful to have a video of you watching a screen, but your idea will definitely get the job done.

There are plenty of heart-rate monitors that connect to your computer. I can't imagine you'll be willing to play the sticker price, though.
