I did grasp basic concept about scalping/middling (not realizing I did already practice some of that in the past), so arb = scalping, hm, yea? Anyway, I can't check all sportsbook sites at work but i see that at covers.com for TEX/NYY game that your numbers are *still* there: http://www.covers.com/pageloader/pag...summary_9.html Apparently at BOS there is quite HEAVY action on the Yanks causing the Rangers's dog line to remain higher?? * CalvinTy |

Re: MLB arb hanging around
<semi hi-jack>
Anyone: to follow up on my attempt to understand the significance of this in its entirety of scalping... using example above-- in simplest way: nyy $138 to win $100 at pinny tex $100 to win $145 at bos if nyy wins, +$0 if tex wins, +$7 So since a person is scalping this line at 2 books (as it's even more rare to see it at same book, naturally, unless line changes near game time towards favs, often)... the goal is basically to bet as much as you can at both sites.. like nyy $690 to win $500 tex $500 to win $725 if nyy wins, +$0 if tex wins, +$35??? NOTE: I understand this example is better for someone who wants to bet the Rangers tonight. In short, a $35 free profit at end of day at combined books? * CalvinTy |

Re: MLB arb hanging around
(yep, I have some time on my hands today)
for someone who leans on the yanks but still wanting profit either way: nyy $717.60 to win $520 tex $500 to win $725 if nyy wins, +$20 if tex wins, +$7.40 I *think* I get the picture... but I see how the lines have to be drastically different to be worth the hassle (overcoming vig on each side!).... and having the proper bankroll to pull this off & then "scapling the opposite results for next time" so your bankroll at a particular sportsbook doesn't take a huge hit after picking a non-winner the 2nd time around, lol. Interesting to actually *think out loud* about this concept... but not my bag... Am I missing anything by any chance? * CalvinTy |

Re: MLB arb hanging around
you can do a couple of things with this. you can take the straight scalp on what the numbers are there. using an arbitrage calculator you can bet both sides say
$1250 on rangers $1780.50 on yankees no matter what outcome, you win approx $32 you can use a bonus to augment the winnings: deposit $1000 at BOS and receive 25% freeplay bonus with 3x rollover, now wager as follows: $1250 on TEX $1620 on NYY if NYY wins, you win $181.16 if TEX wins, you win $182.5 or, you can do what i did which is wager as follows: $1250 ($1000 deposit + $250 freeplay)on Tex at BOS $1780.50 on NYY at pinny if texas wins, i only win $32 and have to do 3x rollover before i can withdraw. if yankees win, i win $290. yes, its not very efficient way to get the most out of a bonus, but i like to do arbs like this because i like to gamble and have the outcome mean something, i do this for fun. sort of like gambling without consequences, and shi.t, i'm betting on the oddsmakers idea of who the favorite is so its not like its a longshot. here, the worst that can happen is i make $32 and i have to burn thru 3x wager requirement. but if the favorite wins, i win $290 and i can go back tomorrow to BOS and get the same reload. so go yanks |

Betting 2 different teams on the same site for a profit is an easy way to get banned from that sportsbook. [/ QUOTE ] True true. Thanks for pointing it out. I didn't mean to imply that to be a practice... was more of mumbling in how you "HAVE to scalp via different books" since it's already very rare to see one book offering drastic line changes. @freerollin: [ QUOTE ] or, you can do what i did which is wager as follows: $1250 ($1000 deposit + $250 freeplay)on Tex at BOS $1780.50 on NYY at pinny if texas wins, i only win $32 and have to do 3x rollover before i can withdraw. if yankees win, i win $290. here, the worst that can happen is i make $32 and i have to burn thru 3x wager requirement. but if the favorite wins, i win $290 and i can go back tomorrow to BOS and get the same reload. so go yankshere, the worst that can happen is i make $32 and i have to burn thru 3x wager requirement. but if the favorite wins, i win $290 and i can go back tomorrow to BOS and get the same reload. so go yanks [/ QUOTE ] Thanks for taking the time to share your arb thinking & explaining how you applied it to today's arb opportunity. This was explained clear as crystal. Just looked at BOS's site.. 20% reload bonuses with 3x rollover as you said, no matter which day or whether if u already have a balance in account?? Nice. Sooner than later, I gotta hit up more bonuses at more books, mainly for better line shopping for my normal picks anyway. Thanks again! * CalvinTy |

[ QUOTE ] yes, its not very efficient way to get the most out of a bonus [/ QUOTE ] It is when you consider time. [/ QUOTE ] false. if you're not willing to put your free play to better use, go ask yourself why you're in a sports "betting" forum. |
