I don't think you played it bad. He made the wrong play by calling and you just got an unlucky river.
I believe some people will say to just raise the turn and go from there. It'll save you some heartaches when this does happen, but I don't see this happening often. It was just an unlucky river, imo. May I ask why you played 97s in the first place? |

i generally wouldn't play 7 9 suited, i fold it over 90%(rough estimate) of the time, but played it here to vary my game and only 5 people left. i had good position so figured i had good impiled odds, because the table was very loose. level 2 or 3 and 5 people left.

a friend of mine is agruing that if he called on the turn, he would most certainly have called on the river no matter what the river card was.
so he says i should have just called or raised. he says if called instead, i would have maybe had another caller, or given a chance to someone to bluff. he also says the there was a big chance everyone would have folded. i argued back that i was confident at least someone had a 6 and would have called considering how loose the table was and the hands that have shown down. |
