Default Hi-Res screen and multi-tabling

Wasn't sure where to post this.
I'm going to buy a monitor that can cover the 1600*1200 resolution needed to (comfortably) 4 table party. Does anyone know if I can just run that through my (3 year old) laptop or do I need to upgrade or whatever and how i go about connecting it up?

Is this the best way to go about multi-tabling? What do others do?

Thanks for any responses.

Since your laptop is 3 years old you will almost certainly need to upgrade. You can find out what graphics chip you have form the Display control panel.

There are nice laptops out there now with 1920x1200 screens in the laptop - that is probably what you want.

You should be able to plug the new monitor in and set the resolution.

You will have a resolution mis-match between the built-in display and the monitor so you won't be able to use both at the same time. There's usually a Function key to quickly switch between the built-in display and the external monitor.

This supported resolution depends on the capabilities of the built-in video card. Its specifications will list the maximum resolution supported. If the video memory is very small, sometimes you will need to lower your colors (16 bit or 256) to support the higher resolution.

Hope that helps
