Anyone ever watch the Lone Gunmen (short-lived spinoff of the X Files)? It lasted one season in 2000. There is one episode where they basically predict 9/11 and a government conspiracy around it. Fiction, but scary nonetheless.

Tom Clancy wrote about terrorists flying a plane into a joint session of Congress or some crap years ago too. Those terrorists are unoriginal bastards, that's for sure.

Villianaire you better be careful about posting this kind of thing. The Illuminati are probably keeping their eye on you now because of this post. If you become too much of a threat to them they will fake an alien abduction to capture you and give you a rectal destabilizer (anal probe) and an alpha wave trancender chip in your brain. That article makes too much sense for the 9/11 wackos.

I have referenced it myself, and some conspiracy nuts jumped all over it because the principle author is a cousin of Michael Chertoff, who is now head of Homeland Security.

The author is a career journalist and Chertoff was appointed in 2005, but surely you see the logic of the cover-up. If not, a 9/11 wacko will be along shortly to explain it.

Paul Phillips wrote about this on his blog (extempore.livejournal) about a month ago, and referenced the Popular Mechanics article linked above. It really destroys any sort of credibility of these conspiracy theories.

There's a lot of quack stuff out there. The Popular Mechanics article seems pretty good, although I'm not an expert. However, just believing that a government might allow or knowingly fail to prevent an attack on its people is not far-fetched at all. Governments have done far worse, including our own.
