How long did it take u to move from small limits to 40/80+ - Page 3

By the time i got to 3/6 i was 8tabling, when i hit 10/20 6max i was 6tabling. Whenever i moved up in limits i would drop a few tables but once i got the groove of a limit i added more.

took me about 500k hands to get to 40/80+
played a lot, studied a lot... strict BR guidelines...
and i still suck

About 18 months and ~250,000 hands to get to 40/80ish (e.g. I'm 30/60 regular but not quite ready for 50/100 full time).... Could of done it quicker but had a lot of expenses coming out of bankroll.

I generally used standard bankroll requirements (e.g 300BB at micros, 1000BB at mid stakes) and only had to move back down once from 5/10 back to 3/6 for a month. I do sort of take shots, but this has never really contributed to moving up/down, but is more a kind of "testing the water" when I expect to move up soon.

I think anyone shold be able to make it to the higher mid-limits in 2 years if:

1) Are reasonably intelligent
2) Have emotional control
3) Put A LOT of time in for study/play (perhaps 20 hrs/week?)
4) Don't run really bad when you reach the mid limits

Hey skp, great post. For me I played NL a lot and thought I could just jump into the 30/60, no luck on that one. Have played lhe for 1/2 year or so, a lot at 30/60 i just stayed there and kept playing but no luck. Didn't realize how high it was I guess, so i'm still not there.
