Re: Future Chicago-area casino/resort?
Good luck with that one. Ho Chunk has owned a huge plot of land in Hoffman Estates for years, but has never gained state approval to build their resort.

Re: Future Chicago-area casino/resort?
I'm not sure the location, but I think it was out near Sears HQ. In looking up articles, the plans fell through after a year of trying. They had an option to buy the land, but when they couldn't get approved, evidently it was dropped. This was 2003-2004.

Probably same piece of land that was supposed to be the site of the new Bears stadium.

Re: Future Chicago-area casino/resort?
Even if they did get a casino built there, who cares, its in the middle of nowhere. And its 30 minutes from Aurora. What we need is a casino in Rosemont or Waukegan. Screw Hoffman Estates. Personally I'm hoping something gets done with a casino in Kenosha. Anybody living in Lake County or Northern Cook has an hour and a half drive to get to a live poker room right now.

Re: Future Chicago-area casino/resort?
We need the next casino in downtown Chicago. Daley's grand plan is to turn the old McCormick Place building into a casino run by the city. This needs to happen. It is ridiculous that there are casinos in downtown St. Louis and Detroit, but not Chicago.

Arlington Race Track would be ideal. They have the building, concessions, parking, location somewhat close to city, METRA stop.
I would be shocked if Chicagoland gets another boat soon though. The governor is just not into it. |

Re: Future Chicago-area casino/resort?
The politicians in the State of Illinois are criminals. As an aggregate they comprise a "continuing criminal enterprise". A gambler wouldn't have a snowball's chance in hell of making money with a casino inside Chicago. The joint itself would have to pay so much "juice" to the politicians they would have to squeeze the gambler, like a phuckin orange. Check this while the link is still up. Illinois politicians have taken for THEMSELVES, what the outfit used to have.

There's a chunk of land way west in Hoffman somewhere just off of 72 that has been rumored for everything from a Casino, Fire, Wolves, Boeing, Bears, 3rd airport, Meijers, Lacrosse team, minor league baseball, convention center, etc. I don't read the Daily Herald as often as I used to so I don't know what the latest rumor is. BTW, Shabbona seems like a horrid location. Most people would have to drive by Aurora to get their. This seems like a worse idea than an airport in Peotone. |
