Default Ska

Any OOTers ska fans? I've been listening to ska for a while now, and it's evolved into my favorite form of music. Big D and the Kids table, Streetlight Manifesto, Catch 22, Pietasters are just a few great ska music.

Do we have any other ska fans? Any specific bands?

People still listen to ska? The only ska song I ever here nowadays is that one hit from mighty mighty bosstones when I watch Chasing Amy...

Ska is great

I've seen a ton of great ska shows over the past 6-7 months...Big D a few times, Catch 22, Reel Big Fish, Pietasters, The Toasters, and Less Than Jake

Ska shows have a much better atmosphere than any other kind of shows

At Catch 22/Streetlight shows, every single person in the crowd knows every lyric to the song. The fast parts of the best songs are the best thing I've ever seen where live shows are concerned.

My band opened for the Toasters a few years back. They were a lot of fun.

I saw the Pietasters in Hoboken about a month ago after not going to shows for a long time. I had a good time but it made me feel kinda old. I was more into indie rock and punk shows as a kid.

I used to listen to some ska years ago. The Specials, Madness, Inspecter 7 and Mephiskapheles were some bands I remember off the top of my head.

I used to put some shows on in Seattle during the mini-Ska boom in the late 90s. I booked mephiskapholes and the Jamican lead singer guy had himself plugged into a gas mask hookah for almost two hours before the show. Then, he ingested some kind of theatric chemical that made it so everytime he breathed out a little smoke came out of his mouth. That, plus the satanic ska music (they are devil worshipers or voodoo practioners apparently) made for some good fun.
