Re: What to do when running bad?
NLHE does seem like the best way to go sometimes. You can build you bankroll in a hurry, plus low blind structure is easy on your bankroll.
Good idea and thanks for the advice. |

Re: What to do when running bad?
If you're playing well, continue to play on. However, keep in mind that when you're running very poorly it's hard to discern whether or not you're playing well and getting unlucky, or playing a little bad (and also getting unlucky). If this is the case, it won't hurt to take a break.

Re: What to do when running bad?
Yeah but you will have bigger downswings play NL. You may be better off multitabling like 2 low limit games just to get your head on straight while not losing a huge chunk of your stack. Just play ABC poker for a while until you start running hot again or gain confidence to try some of the more subtler moves.

[/ QUOTE ] Just make sure that you play it well. I didn't play Nl Hold'em necessarily to double up my money; I did it because I am decent at it and enjoy it, and it was different than what I was doing before. The change of pace was good for me; after going from $120 to $18, I'm back to $47. |

Re: What to do when running bad?
If I have a good table(s) and am not otherwise tired I will often juts play on.
However, I will also often just call it quits for the night. By the next evening, when I am back home from work, I am usually looking forward to playing again and not worrying that I may be about to tilt. After that short break I feel I can play my best regardless of results and enjoy playing as well. I have never considered taking an extended break to deal with running bad (although I have contemplated quitting many times for a host of reasons boiling down to the opportunity costs of spending so much of my free time playing a game in front of a computer). |
