I think the B&M casino I typically play at is getting out of control. There seems to be the same people there time after time and although they might not be playing together, they certainly arn't playing against each other. On top of that they all argue and trash talk and they think they know it all. Well this particular session was a grind. I would pick up a good hand, raise and get no action. I only won one big hand all night. I finally raise UNG with QQ and raise to $20 (playing 1/2 NL) and get at least 5 callers. Flop comes 3 3 10 rainbow and seems pretty harmless. I bet $75. Fold arounds to BB who goes all in, putting me all in. At this point in the session I had already had to lay down KK. I was sick of not getting any action. It was late and I was ready to go home. The only logical hand I could put him on was 10 10 for a boat. So I stubbornly made a WTF, let's see what you have kind of call that usually gets me in trouble. And it did. The donkey had 23 suited. Then he and another person at the table justify the call preflop because there were 4 or 5 callers before him. Like it's all about pot odds. Pulllease. Now I can understand maybe something like pockets 88's or something. And if he had 10 10, I wouldnt be mad about it. But when someone acts like they know poker when they dont and they just get lucky it nerves me. They guy has over $1,000 in chips to my $250. He just took a chance and got lucky. You cant beat luck. There is not much I could do about it, except fold. But I feel like I have folded big pairs around there so much lately. Like I am better off with a trash hand. And if I had the bank roll I would just go play the bigger game where that kind of trash play is less rare. I am so sick and tired of this garbage. The other thing that affected my decision of course was the time. I have noticed that sometimes I make a bad call because it is getting late and I have somewhere to go. I don't know how many times I have looked at my watch, called, and then gone home broke. It has been a bad last month. I don't know how to adjust. If I am a wiser, better, player are tourneys the way to go in the long run or am I just having a bad run? What does everyone think about all this? Anyone had similar experiences?

Paragraphs are your friend, learn to use them...
As for his call with 23, it is implied odds, not pot odds that are really more of a concern here. It may or may not be a horible call depending on the stack sizes of the other players. Welcome to live LLNL... |

you're mad that 2-3 called your raise preflop when you held QQ?

Seriously, pray everyone keeps playing like this. I love how people justify their calling with junk against a large field by citing implied odds or pot odds.

If you don't like this type of stuff then poker, especially NL poker at a B&M room is not for you.

You're totally right, that these idiots playing junk then cracking your QQ is totally unacceptable.
When I play QQ I only want action from legitimate hands like KK and AA, that way, I won't get cracked by idiots playing trash. |
