UK Credit Cards charging gambling transactions at cash rate
Hi guys,
I haven't posted here for a while.... I work for for a big credit card company (in the UK) and we (like many in the rest of the industry) are changing from charging deposits to online gambling websites at purchase rate to cash rate. So higher rate of interest and a transaction fee of 2-3%. Pretty horrible. Obviously any half intelligent person just uses Neteller or a debit card instead. I just wondered if any of you with connections to some of the poker rooms knew if this was worrying them much. I notice that I got an e-mail from Poker Stars the other day telling me what was happening. So they are obviously are at least aware of it. Thanks Tim P.S. I work for a company that was not listed on the PS e-mail so expect at least one more major issuer to follow suit soon! |

I haven't posted here for a while.... [/ QUOTE ] That's an understatement. Good to see you back. As you said anyone with an sense will use Neteller, but I can see the casual gambler getting pretty pissed off about this. |

Re: UK Credit Cards charging gambling transactions at cash rate
Wow, I didn't think anyone would remember me it's been that long!
I've been a pretty busy boy at work, so I had to cut out poker (sacrilege!). I have a nice easy ring game to play with some mates so I am easing my way back in to things. I had no idea how quickly I would lose what little touch for the game I had. It's like going back to square one (or maybe two). Things certainly seem pretty different in the online world. Party is almost unrecognisable and there seem to be all sorts of software aids floating around on the internet. And from a few games I've played the standard seems to have improved marginally (or maybe I am just much worse!). And there are stickies at the top of the forums (finally!). At least there are a few old names that I recognise on these boards and KotZ is still running? Tim |
