Have had about 10 minutes of internet in the last 24 hours, so have had nothing to contribute. Hopefully, good things in the next 24 hours to contribute to the happy thread.

Default So you think NL $100 players can lay down an overpair?

This isn't particularly impressive, but it does illustrate a psychological point that I think deserves more attention: People have a hard time parting with a middle pair once it becomes an overpair. For that matter, people will lose their stack with QQ or JJ to a better pair, no matter how many raises the big pair put in preflop, once it flops as an overpair.

Flames about me playing short stacks to work off bonus will be cheerfully ignored.

I had just won a pot without showing from the hijack the previous hand, so I was predisposed to imagine that my table image would peg me as pretty aggressive.

Villain had 99.

Of course you could turn the tables and say that I made a loose call of the push, but I don't think so -- on a flop like this, pairs as low as sevens and eights seem to get frisky surprisingly often. Maybe it's because they "just know" that I'm CBing with AK unimproved. Indeed, I would play this way with AK unimproved more often than not. Maybe it's because you can't imagine a nineless flop that would be better for 99 than this one, and they're so excited about playing their great flop that they forget about my cards. Whatever the reason, middle pairs are usually happy to pay me off here.

Anyway, not a huge pot or anything, but an interesting example of something I've noticed.

Hand #2
I re-raised pre-flop to take it down there, or take control of the hand. On the flop, I thought he would call me with two pair, set, trips, etc. If he somehow has a flush, hell I have outs! I was really surprised to see his final holding! :P

I'm not going to post any hands. They're not interesting. Just happy!

But I just won $600 at 100NL in 35 minutes. This after winning $400 in an hour last night.

Time to go lose it at 200NL.
