Lately, my internet is very slow. As far as I know, I have made no changes. Especially when I download streaming video such as Live @ the Bike, I am unable to watch it. It will just say "buffering 1%" for a couple minutes, then will improve a percentage point every couple of minutes.
I did a sytem speed test which said my download speed was 39kbps and my upload speed was 425kbps. I have a cable modem and have never had any problems with speed before about a week ago. Thanks for your help |

You might have some sort of bug. Complete scan time. Those porn sites have all sorts of nasty adware.

Thanks for the reply.
I scanned my registry, did a full virus scan and scanned for spyware with no help. I never had any problem before, but since about a week ago, It has been bad. I can still download videos fine, but when I go on sites like LATB or Cardrunners and try to download streaming videos, it lags bad. Why would my upload numbers be fine, but my download numbers be so bad? |

Although rare, it's possible your LAN adapter has gone bad. If you can borrow a spare, try swapping that out. Same with the modem or whatever it is that controls your internet access. It's possible something in the download channel has gone bad.

You have probably already done this but just in case since everyone forgets this. This helps my vpn users 90% of the time when they complain. Unplug the power to your cable modem. If you use a router do the same. Wait a few seconds and power them back up.

Physically reconnecting the coax cable has been known to help too. |

I tried all of that with no help.
I called Adelphia and they had me do more speed tests. Strangely, on the Adelphia site speed test, my results were 3004 kbps downloading and 304 kbps uploading (very good). They then had me go to a non Adelphia speed test and I had the same earlier bad results. The rep said that my Adelphia cable modom service was working fine and there must be a problem further down the line (not their fault of course) at a hub or something. Should I wait it out or cancel my current Adelphia cable modem service and go somewhere else? If so, where? DSL? |

The people in this forum may be able to help you:
Adelphia Cable forum at DSL Reports If you still can't get the issue resolved, this is where I started my search for high speed access: DSL Reports ISP Search I have been using the site for more than 4 years and have gotten good advice on high speed internet issues. Hope this helps. |
