US CASINOS RELAX OPPOSITION TO GAMBLING OVER THE INTERNET
US CASINOS RELAX OPPOSITION TO GAMBLING OVER THE INTERNET
The main trade group for US casinos urged Congress to study whether the online-gambling industry should be regulated, a move that appears to relax opposition to Internet wagering. The move by the American Gaming Association comes at a time when Congress is considering several bills that would explicitly ban Internet gambling. The group said that while it officially remains neutral about the pending legislation, it now "strongly supports" a one-year study that would evaluate whether legalizing and regulating the industry would be "a more viable option" than a ban. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB114623459523038764.html |

additionally, they have also "seen the light" on the symbiosis reagrding online and b&m.
how many wsop main event seats would the last few years have had without online poker? how many of the new/expanded poker rooms in many major casinos would be happening without online helping to fuel the "boom?" just too many potential golden gooses for them to risk their slaying in order to protect narrow parochial interests. |

Re: US CASINOS RELAX OPPOSITION TO GAMBLING OVER THE INTERNET
Thousands of new jobs for Americans and a multibillion dollar improvement in balance of payments on a silver platter if we would just wake up. American regulation is the best in the world and we have great experience in the gambling industry, tons of computer systems expertise, and excellent telecom infrastructure.
Congress and the President should be ashamed of their role in giving away the online gambling industry to foreigners. |
