[ QUOTE ]
the difference between Honus/A-Rod is bigger than Ted/Barry. [/ QUOTE ] Really? Wagner: .327/.391/.466, career OPS+ of 150 ARod: .307/.385/.577, career OPS+ of 145 You're much more studious about the game than I am. I'd like to hear more on this. |

[ QUOTE ]
Sorry, this has nothing to do with his marketability. It has to due with his production on the field. [/ QUOTE ] Oh, I understand that people are saying that he isn't as good at playing baseball as most seem to think. But you can't view these things in a vacuum. He is in some sense rated highly because of so-called intangibles -- leadership, clutchiness, etc. -- and also called overrated because of the same things. |

[/ QUOTE ] Honus's numbers include his decline phase, and has 4000 more PA than A-Rod. Bonds' OPS+ is 184 to Ted's 190, but he's done it in more playing time against better players, with better defense, better stolen bases, and better ways of cheating. |

If the Yankees didn't have him, they would have the best shortstop in baseball playing in his correct position, and they would be the 2nd worst team in the AL. [/ QUOTE ] |

But I'm sick of people accusing Bonds of using steroids and cheating despite absolutely 0 conclusive evidence to back it up. |

[ QUOTE ] I'm sure he's created far more revenue for the Yankees than he has cost them. [/ QUOTE ] Sorry, this has nothing to do with his marketability. It has to due with his production on the field. [/ QUOTE ] Yea but if he didn't produce on the field, he wouldn't have marketability to generate income for the Yankees. So you have to look at marketability as a factor when it comes to whether Jeter is overrated or not. |

Hideki Matsui is overpaid but is undoubtably worth it due to his revenue streams that he brings in. The same goes for Ichiro, whose collapse will be brutal, but still obviously worth it. |
