[/ QUOTE ] Oh, I understand that people are saying that he isn't as good at playing baseball as most seem to think. But you can't view these things in a vacuum. He is in some sense rated highly because of so-called intangibles -- leadership, clutchiness, etc. -- and also called overrated because of the same things.

[/ QUOTE ] Again, if you're so smart, prove that Bonds cheated. I'm waiting. EDIT: Unless you are just saying that people cheated more and with better technology in this era, which is true. But I'm sick of people accusing Bonds of using steroids and cheating despite absolutely 0 conclusive evidence to back it up.

So you have to look at marketability as a factor when it comes to whether Jeter is overrated or not.

Hideki Matsui is overpaid but is undoubtably worth it due to his revenue streams that he brings in. The same goes for Ichiro, whose collapse will be brutal, but still obviously worth it.
