Buzz + others, I guess my post was unclear. The term "raise/fold" for me implies a line in which Hero plans to raise and fold to a 3-bet. Folding for 1 bet is insane, and folding the flop is a definitely no-go in these games. I can be up against hands like AJT4 or K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] or all kinds of one-way hands some % of the time.
The crux of this problem, I think, is comparing the value added by raising a hand that can 3/4 or scoop somewhat rarely vs. those times I am scooped. A bluff 3-bet migh tbe worth considering, but it seems a little wacky given no significant history between me and the opponent. Sorry for the confusion. |

scott....
folding is too weak. raising is very close to calling, imo, but i still prefer a call. when you raise and you get three bet, you have to fold to a sane players three bet on the river, in which case you dont get to showdown, which is important here. when you raise and get called, it's almost always a chop. if you had aces up, i like a river raise, but w/ one pair i like a call. second nut low + aces up is strong enough to scoop here. but this brings me to this idea- raising the turn. |

You might as well just call and see what happens (that way you can't get pushed off your hand by the villians 3-bet, and you only commit one bet instead of two, AND you get to see the showdown where you are likely to receive part of the pot the majority of the time) |

Why didn't you raise the turn? This looks like a good opportunity to make position pay, and it sets you up to force him off on the river if non of the draws get there (which is probably more likely than him having xx45 in a raise-to open hand?)
